The history of the Chase Knox Estate

Surrounded by 3,500 acres of sprawling green meadows and majestic trees, the historic Chase Knox Estate adds a touch of rustic beauty and elegance to your wedding. Located right next to the Valley Forge National Historic Park, where George Washington once camped during the Revolutionary War, the estate once belonged to Philander Chase Knox, former U.S. Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Senator. Knox remodeled the estate into the Colonial Revival style in the early 1900s, and the house was sold to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, becoming part of the Valley Forge National Historical Park in 1965. Today, the elegant estate serves as a picturesque location for hosting unforgettable weddings.

Photography Picturesque photo backdrops are everywhere you look at the Chase Knox Estate. Colorful wildflowers sprinkled throughout the Valley Creek create an ideal location for pre- or post-ceremony portraits and even engagement photo sessions, and period furniture in the living and dining rooms will impress your guests as they mingle before and after the ceremony. And for couples interested in American history, a partial re-creation of the historic village of Valley Forge from the time of the American Revolution is located right next door, just within the outskirts of the Valley Forge park.
