History and romance come to life at Malvern’s Philander Chase Knox Estate weddings.
One of the Main Line’s most picturesque wedding venues, situated on the edge of iconic Valley Forge National Historical Park, the estate is resplendent with nature and rustic charm.
Picture a stone estate house on sprawling green grounds with a terrace overlooking the valley, a reclaimed wood barn laid with farm tables and china, and a large tent strung with lights.
Like something out of a fairytale, it’s the perfect backdrop for utterly ethereal weddings.
Dating back to the 18th century, this gorgeous estate was once the summer home of former U.S. Attorney General and U.S. Secretary of State Philander Chase Knox.
Nestled on the edge of Valley Forge National Historical Park, the Philander Chase Knox Estate is an oasis, surrounded by 3,500 acres of undulating grassy parklands.
Resplendent in Colonial Revival style, the home is outfitted historically, adding to the authenticity.
With views overlooking the green and golden countryside, dotted with wildflowers and deer, it’s a perfect locale for spring, summer and fall celebrations, where nature adds its own beautiful elements.
The Philander Chase Knox Estate accommodates events from April through October.
The historic estate boasts elegant indoor and outdoor spaces, making it well suited to ceremonies and receptions from spring through fall
A grassy manicured lawn, surrounded by decades old trees, serves as an ideal spot to say “I do” when the weather is fine.
With chairs neatly arranged, couples can exchange vows under a beautiful arch, adorned with fabric and florals.
Cocktail hour doesn’t get much dreamier than a slate patio overlooking a vast sweep of rolling hills, illuminated by soft green foliage.
The modern space can accommodate high top tables perfect for mingling, and vines and other plants add a subtle softness. Guests can also make use of the indoor dining and living rooms, bedecked in period furniture, giving a glimpse into the estate’s centuries-old history. Just feet away from the tent, it’s a convenient amenity.
Like something out of a storybook, the spacious 50-by-80-foot fabric tent at the Philander Chase Knox Estate is just feet away from the terraced stone patio which adjoins the house.
Stepping into the tent—thoughtfully elevated for added comfort—the open-air space instantly transports guests to another time. Swaths of creamy fabric soften the look, while overhead light gently illuminates the reclaimed wood farm tables set with walnut cross-back farm chairs and a table laid with china.
Ambient colored light can be customized, too, adding to the whimsy and romance. Complete with a dance floor, it’s a gorgeous backdrop for a wedding reception.
Abutting the indomitable Valley Forge National Historical Park, couples who want unique photos are just a short drive from some of southeastern Pennsylvania’s most iconic and picturesque sites.
Ahead of the ceremony or during cocktail hour, steal away to capture the imposing architecture of the National Memorial Arch.
Or let the sweeping meadows serve as a backdrop. With numerous trails, they’re easily accessible and add romantic natural elements to your day.
Historically designed split rail fences are equally unique and feature throughout the park, as do other monuments and buildings.
Couples have no shortage of gorgeous spots to stage a wedding photo shoot at the Philander Chase Knox Estate.
From the sprawling white-washed stone house, complete with dormers and welcoming hunter green shutters, to the home’s interior, couples can capture the timeless elegance of the space.
Green meadows dotted with wildflowers and old growth trees highlight nature, while an old greenhouse, complete with historic stone chimney, offers effortless elegance.
Nearby, a reflecting pond and sunken stone terrace lend an air of privacy, perfect for stealing a kiss or a moment alone.
